Take part in st. patrick's festival Kilkenny

Join us for St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny 2022!  Whether you’re a local community group, a marching band from abroad, a group from our twinned towns or a theatrical group from anywhere, we want you to spend St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland and take part in the St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny.

As the world reopens we plan to celebrate by making Kilkenny the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day 2022 and beyond.  We want you – musicians, street performers, theatre groups, performers with interesting costumes and stories, anything that can enhance the entertainment and festive atmosphere in the city for the thousands of spectators.

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated all around the world, but there is nothing quite like celebrating it in Ireland. Kilkenny is an intimate city, with medieval streets and a 900 year old castle, full of warmth, culture, heritage and fun.  It’s the kind of place where you’ll easily bump into the same person twice!  With so much to see and do, and so many things happening around the St. Patrick’s Festival, Kilkenny it is the perfect place to be!

To take part, skip down to the end of the page and fill out the interest form. Or find out all you need to know about planning your trip here.

 See you in 2022!

"I love performing for St Patrick's Festival Kilkenny. It's well organised, the crowds are super fun and interactive and for us, it marks a joyous start to the year."

Growing Patch Childcare

Based in Newpark Close, Kilkenny. This community group take part in the St. Patrick's Festival every year.
We look forward to partaking in the annual parade. The children spend weeks preparing costumes and routines in line with the theme. It's a great opportunity for the young people to highlight what great citizens they are for our community.

Participant Interest form

Each year St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny has grown bigger and brighter than the year before. In 2021, despite not having a physical parade we still had participants from all over Kilkenny and the world send in creative submissions. Watch back here! In 2022 we’re back in person and will be putting on a big celebration, but next year we want to build on that creativity and diversity yet again.

Local groups:  Take part this year by filling out the the 2022 Parade Application Form. Get creative with your ideas, costumes, and performances. Start practicing and be ready to put on a show on Thursday 17th March 2022.

Rest of Ireland and abroad:  If you would like to join us from further afield (at any point in the next few years) make a plan and fill out the interest form here. We’d love for you to join our parade through the city’s medieval streets as part of our St. Patrick’s Festival/Parade.

Twinned Towns:  We’d especially love for you to visit and be a part of our festival, as a participant or a spectator. Find out more about Kilkenny’s connection with their Twinned Towns here.
