Kilkenny native Tara Shine is a science and public policy advisor, explorer and author who has dedicated nearly 20 years to the pursuit of fairness between people and fairness between people and the planet. Her mission is to highlight and address difficult truths about our impact on the planet and on each other.
Kilkenny St. Patrick’s Festival is committed to this plan of ‘going green’. In the last few years our themes have included: “Bring the Bees back” and “Biodiversity” and this year that theme has
continued through a number of talks and tutorials on subjects like ‘gardening for Nature’ and ‘One object at a Time with Tara Shine’.
Gardening for Biodiversity is all about rethinking how you see your garden and deciding to include areas that can be a home for a variety of native species. By changing your perception of what a garden should look like, you can replicate wild Irish habitats like woodland, hedgerow, meadow, wetland and bog in your garden.
